obviously any bow will kill a deer/bear (which is what ill be hunting with it)...but what do you guys think is the best one? Seems like im finding a ton of GT500s and Z28s...decent number of GTOs then some XLRs, XXLs, Senergys, E-Forces.....

so i guess out of those 7 choices...what do you think would be the best overall choice? Give me some experiences with them

I have yet to make a harvest with a bow.... :(

But if one of your intended critters is a 700lbs killing machine, then I would be going with the Judge/Pulse.
More speed and KE is better for the dangerous game.

Z28 is probably the most popular followed by the gto. Z28 is smooth with decent speed and the gto is fast, but not as smooth as the z28.

700 pounds is very possible....my cousin killed a 640 pounder last year and my uncle got a 875 pounder this year....

If an arrow shootin slingshot can kill a hog, any of them will work. From there it's a matter of what specs you like, and most of all, what bow fits you. I have shot nearly every Elite ever made. The Judge was the most accurate. i haven't shot my Pulse enuf to determine if it holds up to the Judge

2011 Mathew Mission VXT - My bow
2008.5 GTO - Uncle's bow
2010 Judge - Nephew's bow
2008 Elite Envy - other Nephew's bow
2009 XLR - Boss's bow

What poundage XLR does your Mom shoot Slip?

If you put the arrow where it needs to be, they would all be superb hunting bows.......

to open of a question.
how far (yardage)? A-A has some play in that arena

all around hunting ( open prairie, mountains, wooded timber climber or hang-on, pop-up blind) -- my go to would be GT-500 or Pure

Any of the listed bows will get it done. My #1 choice would be the GTO then Synergy.

GTO silly :)

I agree out of these options the gto would get my vote. 2010 gt 500 would be next on my list.

2007 Bowtech allegiance is my favorite hunting bow of all time, the gto is as close to that as I have found. The pulse may soon take over the allegiance.

I bet I could change your mind.

What about the HUNTER and the PULSE? Anyone considered them? I'm not familiar with the older bows like the GTO and the Synergy.

The new bows were not in his list of options Remi. He asked about the 7 bows he had listed.

Of the bows you listed, I would go with the Z28, followed closely by the GTO. I continue to go back to the Z28 for some reason. I like the 2009 the best with the draw specific cams. I am using the 2010 cams now. They are nice as well, but you can get the 2009's at a better price. Cams can be purchased off Elite for $50 and you could sell the cams you get with the bow if they aren't the right DL.

The GTO is definately faster, but it has less valley in my opinion. These two bows don't shoot the same at all to me. I really like them both equally well though. One you are forgetting to mention, that was on AT for a dynamite price last night was the SynX. Supposedly a little (<5fps) slower than the GTO but easier draw cycle. I think the one I saw was $330 shipped or something like that.

Good luck.

You left this pretty open ended, so you'll get a list of everyone's personal favorite, which won't necessarily be yours.

What kind of ATA to do you like, how about brace height? What speed are you looking for? Do you care if it draws smooth? What kind of valley do you prefer, short or long? How about letoff? Are you trying to keep shots to 30yds, or open to longer shots? Do you hunt in a blind or treestand?

Answer some of these questions, and you'll get some much more valueable feedback.

thanks for the responses guys...seems like ill be happy with any of them. I must say, the GT500 and GTO are probably the favorites in my eyes.....XLR and Synergy very close too

I would like to keep ATA about 32" and bigger...Brace prefer bigger but isnt all that important to me...smooth draw is always nice...i like less letoff, i seem to be more steady with less letoff (65% if possible)...i will not shoot at game over 40 yards, just too many things can happen, in fact never had to shoot past 25 and would like to keep it that way...i hunt from a stand and on the ground

Based on all of that, I would choose the Z28 any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. You didn't mention speed, so I guess it's not as important. The ATA of the Z will be nice in a stand, and it's going to be your smoothest pre-'11 Elite in that list. The Z with the right stab is super stable and quiet on the shot, and I just don't think you can go wrong with it!

speed isnt as important to me as KE is...like i said, the more short range shots i take will stil allow the arrow to get there pretty darn quick. As for the valley im not really that educated on different valleys....so i cant comment there

I'd pay attention to tomkat04's remark about the the Synergy XT. My hunting seaons can take me from 70+ degrees to temps below 0, before windchill. I have not had a bow thats been more comfortable at this range more than the XT. Warmer temps (above 40) I might make a different choice but as the temp drops and layers go on the XT has been a charm to draw and hold.

I'm sure it depends on where the draw stops are, but my GTO has more valley than the 08.5 Z-28 I had. The draw was a wash to me, felt pretty similar. The Z was quieter, but a tad slower. The big difference was how I shot each bow. For some reason I can shoot better with that GTO than any other bow I've owned. The Z wasn't bad......just not as good as the Goat.

I believe there is not alot of difference between the gto and synergy x a few fps syner a little smother gto a little faster 5 fps

It doesnt get any better than the GTO...and you'd be owning a piece of archery history. You better jump on the one BAD007 had for sale before its gone...or better yet, start a new thread here in the General Archery forum title 'WTB - like new GTO'. :luck:

My choice would be the GTO and the SynX. :woohoo: I have one of each and they are the best shooting bows I have ever had in my hands. I shot a GT500 and had a 09 Z28, both good bows but nothing to compare to the Goat or SynX. Got the Synx new last year and took 4 deer and 2 hogs. Traded the Z28 for the GTO in October and took 4 deer and 1 hog with it so far. They just seem to have that perfect A-A length for me with a smooth draw and great speed. The draw on the SynX rivaled that of the Z28 with better speed. MHO

The 09 Z28 is my ultimate hunting bow. Do not want to try the Hunter because I am done buying bows for the year.

The best was the 06 Energy at 36" ATA but that is soon being taken over by the 2011 Pure..also at 36" ATA. But carry on and keep looking for those models you mentioned and :luck:

The GTOHhhhhhhh my god. Lol I haven't shot a bow by any manufacturer that has me wanting to retire it and that comes from someone who "has"'to have a new hunting bow every year. It's not for everyone though. You know your drawing a real bow from the first draw.
